Variability in Fumed Silica Powders

A robust method of quantifying the effect of different grades of fumed silica and the influence that has on performance in a manufacturing operation enables a design space of acceptable properties for raw materials and blends to be established.

(The Influence of Flow Additives on Powder Behaviour)

(The Influence of Flow Additives on Powder Behaviour)

Evaluating Flow Aid Distribution using Magnetically Assisted Impaction Coating

This study compares the flow properties of a substrate, when blended with a flow aid using MAIC or a V-blender. The resulting blends were tested using an FT4 Powder Rheometer to evaluate their rheological properties. The study also investigates the effect of flow aid concentration on samples blended using MAIC.

The Influence of Flow Additives on Powder Behaviour

Over a range of processes the relationship between flow additive and substrate is less well-understood. Due to the differing demands placed on powders by different processes, the relative influence of a given additive on a given substrate may not be consistent under all circumstances.

Flowability of Powders and the Effects of Flow Additives

A study of how the bulk and flow properties of potato starch and corn starch are affected by small amounts of fumed silica flow additive (AEROSIL® 200). A powder rheometer was used to measure dynamic flow properties as well as shear properties, including their yield loci when pre-consolidated and their shear strength (cohesion) at near zero consolidation stress.
