Tim Freeman, Managing Director of Freeman Technology, presented ‘Modern Methods of Characterizing Powder Flow Properties - the Benefits to Product Development, Process Optimization and Quality’ to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) last week at Silver Spring, USA.
The presentation demonstrated that whilst powder characterization remains a complex science, the FT4 continues to add value when optimizing processes and enhancing product understanding for a wide range of applications; across R&D and formulation, process development, scale-up, commercial manufacture, tech services, and QA / QC.
It is clear that employing a detailed understanding of powder flow and powder behaviour, and its relationship with process conditions will ultimately lead to efficient production and high quality of finished product – the essence of Quality by Design (QbD).
