2019 closed with news of the strategic recapitalisation of Micromeritics (our parent company) by SFW Capital Partners so the new year brings fresh opportunities for change and growth. SFW is a specialised private equity company that invests in leading providers of analytical instrumentation. The move injects complementary expertise and considerable resource into Micromeritics that will facilitate plans to enhance our offering.

High on the Micromeritics agenda are new products and an expanded sales and service network. These developments will deliver tangible benefits to customers, and we look forward to playing our part in their realisation. As integration deepens, synergies with Micromeritics products become increasingly clear. Leveraging our combined knowledge, we’re working hard to establish comprehensive analytical toolsets, tailored to specific applications and industries. Accelerating our work in this area is an important goal for year and I look forward to sharing the results.

This year is the 20th anniversary of the launch of the FT3, the first instrument for dynamic powder testing. Powder testing has been transformed in the last two decades and it has been rewarding to contribute to that change. Thank you to everyone who, by sharing their expertise and insight has helped us refine this ground-breaking invention into the valued instrumentation we offer today.

Granulation can be a challenging unit operation, particularly with respect to scale-up. Our upcoming webinar ‘How Powder Flow testing can Optimize Granulation Processes’ explains how at-line and in-line powder characterisation can help by enabling accurate endpoint detection. Join us at 15:00 GMT on 17th March.

We’re delighted that Jamie Clayton, Operations Director, was invited to be the first interviewee in a new podcast series from Process Industry Informer. With podcasts growing in popularity, thanks no doubt to their convenience, this is a great new initiative from PII that we’re happy to support. Click here to catch the interesting and informative ‘Powder Characterisation for Industrial Applications’.

Our seminar with Evonik Corporation, which will take place on April 2nd at Evonik’s facility in Piscataway NJ, is a great opportunity to hear from industry leaders about the application of powder rheology. John Yin, Product Manager at Freeman Technology, will be joined by speakers from Evonik Corporation for a day of presentations and discussion focusing on food, pharma and chemicals.

In the interests of safety this event has been postponed until further notice.

If you are working on the application of additive manufacturing (AM)/3D printing, with metals, polymers or even pharmaceutical formulations, then our latest e-book is likely to be of interest. Summarising understanding developed working with those at the forefront of AM and including multiple case studies it clearly explains the value of powder testing in the specification of optimised feedstocks for this exciting technology.
